Brandon Moss hit a game-ending RBI single with one out in the ninth inning to give Oakland another dose of late-inning dramatics as the Athletics beat the New York Yankees 3-2 on Friday night for their seventh win in eight games. Yoenis Cespedes singled with one out in the ninth off Cody Eppley (0-1) for his fourth hit of the game and went to second on Jonny Gomes' infield hit. Moss, who left the bases loaded twice earlier in the game, lined a single to right field and Cespedes slid in safely ahead of Andruw Jones throw. That gave Oakland its 10th walk-off win of the season and seventh in its past 14 home games, bailing out All-Star closer Ryan Cook (4-2), who allowed a game-tying homer to Robinson Cano in the top of the ninth. The Yankees were completely silenced by Oakland rookie Tommy Milone, who struck out a career-high 10 batters in seven scoreless innings as the A's took a 2-0 lead. But Oakland failed to build on the single runs scored in the third and fourth innin...

Anothe Day, Another Walk Off

Tonight in Oakland, Brandon Moss laced a ball to right, scoring Yoenis Cespedes with the game winner, and earning the first baseman a dogpile of rowdy Athletics. It's my bizarre team's 10th walk off win of the year -- that leads the majors -- and Moss became the 10th different Athletic to take the happy abuse. Something's happening here, and I can't deny it: I'...

A's put shortstop Pennington on DL

The Oakland A's placed shortstop Cliff Pennington on the 15-day disabled list with left elbow tendinitis, the club announced Friday. Pennington is batting .197 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 82 games for Oakland. Infielder Eric Sogard was recalled from Class AAA Sacramento to take Pennington's spot on the 25-man roster. Sogard is hitting .145 with two home runs and...

A's edge Yankees with their 10th walk-off win of season

OAKLAND, Calif. -- It's almost becoming routine for the Oakland Athletics to win the game in their last at-bat -- even if the opponent is the team with the best record in baseball. "There's always that feeling if we're in our last at-bat and we're tied at home, we just feel like something good's going to happen," A's manager Bob Melvin said. ...

Straily could be on Athletics' radar

The Oakland Athletics are a ½-game out in the wild-card race. They lead the American League in ERA. Yet their best pitcher, in terms of sheer performance, is at Triple A. Doesn't quite make sense. So, don’t be surprised if the Athletics try to figure out a way to squeeze right-hander Daniel Straily into their rotation soon. Straily, 23, is a combined 6-6 with a 2.64...

Inge lifts A's over Yankees, 2-1

OAKLAND, Calif. -- When rookie starting pitcher Jarrod Parker walked off the mound after eight innings of one-run ball against the New York Yankees in line for no decision, Oakland A's third baseman Brandon Inge had a message for him. "Inge, he told me," Parker explained. "He said, 'I'm gonna get you one.' And he did. That's pretty sweet that...

Photos: Colorado Rockies honor theater shooting victims

These images show how the Colorado Rockies honored the victims of the horrific shooting in an Aurora, Colo., movie theater that left 12 dead and injured 58 others. There was a moment of silence before game against the Padres at Petco Park in San Diego. Rockies players wore the date “7-20” under their eyes and wore purple jerseys and black wristbands.

Athletics 2, Yankees 1

Brandon Inge and Yoenis Cespedes homered, Jarrod Parker shut down one of baseball's best lineups for eight innings and the Oakland Athletics beat the New York Yankees 2-1 Saturday night for their fourth straight win. Parker (7-4) allowed only an RBI single to Raul Ibanez in the fourth to become the latest Oakland starter to baffle the Bronx Bombers. He struck out five and walked...

Diamond Girls – Danielle Gamba

Although no longer an item, it was said that Oakland Athletics outfielder Nick Swisher and American model and former NFL cheerleader Danielle Gamba were once an item. Take it for what it’s worth but she is definitely Diamond Girl worthy. Check out her photos below.

A's 3, Yankees 2

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland Athletics continue to be the hottest team in baseball. Even the mighty New York Yankees are not enough to intimidate them. Brandon Moss singled to right in the bottom of the ninth Friday for the Athletics' 10th walk-off win of the season as Oakland beat New York 3-2. It was Oakland's fifth walk-off win in its past nine home games. Rookie...

Athletics 4, Yankees 3

A.J. Griffin glanced into the visiting dugout and saw Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira among others. Oakland's rookie right-hander felt some nerves all right. Then, Yoenis Cespedes hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give him a quick lead and Griffin shut down one of baseball's best lineups for five innings as the Athletics beat the Yankees 4-3 Thursday...

Rick T.  Springfield, MO ____________________________ Do I believe in the A’s?  Do I believe that a team called the A’s plays in Oakland, CA?  Yes, I believe that.  Do I believe that despite a limited budget and a small market, a team called the A’s not only contended in the early 2000′s but also outperformed most of the American League?  Yes...
