Waking up this morning, I was oddly calm. My mind wasn't racing about Terry Francona's decision not to pinch-hit for Jason Varitek or wondering why Ellsbury didn't come into the game as a pinch-runner when we had a chance to possibly score. I obviously wasn't clammering to put on Sports Center like I usually do in the morning but that was to be expected. How did I reach this zen-like state? It was easy, all I had to do was think about the facts. Sure, the Red Sox had an excellent team this year and could have easily repeated as world champs if it wasn't for an excessive amount of injuries. That's all fine and dandy but the fact remains that we've won 2 championships in 4 years. My grandfather lived for 70+ years and didn't get to see his beloved Sox win the World Series a single time. What right do I possibly have to be angry? It would have been nice to have another win but I'll have nothing to complain about this winter. I plan on spending my nights watching Bruins games while wearing my 2007 WS Champs hoodie and my 2004 WS Champs pajama pants. Take a deep breath New England, it'll be ok.

  • Thats the reason why im calm too. To be able to experience 2 WS titles since ive been a fan keeps me sane. Theyve had a great run, and that comeback shows the MLB world who the Sox are. Next year, will be better. But I got over the loss. As long as the Rays lose, im happy. But yea great article. I didnt go on Rays, Yankee or Sox message boards. ESPN, or any sports show. Dont want to hear anything, until it dies down and the Phillies win.
