Last night's 6-1 victory by the Mets over the Nationals at Citi Field was a night of first's in many ways; Livan Hernandez pitched the first ever complete game at the new digs, top prospect Fernando Martinez made his MLB debut, it was the first game in the last four the Mets didn't need video replay---and, least importantly, it was my first game at Citi Field.

Let me start there, the park is incredible! My only question is this; our seats were in the very first row in Right Field----the Pepsi Porch, why is the railing so low? Seriously, a couple of times we got up to cheer and the thing is barely over my knees---I thought I was going to end up in right field!

More importantly, Livan hernandez was money! By the way, he threw 127 pitches and so far as I can tell, he isn't in dire need of medical attention. I hate the "pitch count"!

The Mets are badly banged up. No Reyes, no Beltran, no Delgado, no Church---yet the subs find ways to win. Angel Pagan made a perfect throw to nail a runner at the plate, fernando Martinez drove in a run. They are finding ways.

Don't get me wrong, I know the Nationals are basically a high school team, but still...

On that note, the Mets next eleven games are against the Nats, Pirates and Marlins---they need to take advantage while they start hopefully getting people back.
