Make it six straight wins for the Ny Mets! The Mets look like a totally different team then they did just two weeks ago.
The Mets pounded out seventeen basehits this afternoon in a 10-1 romp over the Pittsburg Pirates at Citi Field! Say what you will about their competition ( I realize the Pirates are not to be confused with the '27 Yankees), still, they are an MLB team and they were on the schedule. Besides, prior to this, the Mets swept the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies in two game series'.
The Mets are flat out playing great baseball right now. They are playing winning baseball right now. This afternoon I saw good pitching from starter John Maine who seems to be rounding nicely into form, great defense including a nice diving catch by Fernando Tatis, great hustle and everybody contributed!
They did this without manager Jerry Manuel who served a one game suspension for his vigorous protest on an interference call made Thursday night against Jose Reyes----terrible call! Didn't matter. Sandy Alomar sr took over the reigns and did just fine, thank you.
The Mets are rolling and need to again show some killer instinct and close out the sweep tomorrow against a Pirates team that is reeling---there is no mercy in baseball!!!
