Well, at least we know that Brandon McCarthy knows how to take a joke. The Diamondbacks’ newest pitcher apparently took care of getting his license renewed over the holiday break. There was just one problem, though: The local DMV got its letters mixed up. While McCarthy’s license correctly states that he’s 6-foot-7 and has hazel eyes (we think), the easy party — male or female — appears to have gotten adjusted during the renewal process. McCarthy’s wife, Amanda, was all over it. Something doesn't look right on Brandon's new license... http://t.co/QAr0AFBn— Amanda McCarthy (@Mrs_McCarthy32) December 28, 2012 Of all people to have such a mistake made on his driver’s license, though, Brandon McCarthy may be the guy. Last year, when he was involved in one of baseball’s scariest moments after being hit by a line drive, he bounced back by doing all kinds of joking, including some shenanigans his wife didn’t exactly approve of. He may be able to have some fun with this one, too. Thumbnail via Twitter/@Mrs_McCarthy32 Photo of the Day That is Saints owner Tom Benson, suspended Saints coach Sean Payton, and a very interesting handshake that bodes well for Saints fans. Quote of the Day “Making it to the NFC Championship is not easy, and I think [Eagles fans are] starting to see that right now, that getting to the playoffs and going to the NFC Championship consistently, it’s just not that easy. There are teams right now who have winning records, like the Atlanta Falcons, they’ve done it for so many years, and they get to the playoffs and all of a sudden they’re one-and-done.” – Donovan McNabb, with some good analysis on the Eagles’ situation Tweet of the Day The Clippers get their sweet 16th. Yeah Clippers are for real, come back from 19 in 3rd, on a back to back.... Something special is a brewing!!!!— Reggie Miller (@ReggieMillerTNT) December 29, 2012 Video of the Day The Kings just wanted to wait until the buzzer to polish this one off.

  • A mix-up in paperwork makes the news?
  • about the same as you
  • If he's in Arizona, why does he have a Texas license? I'm from Texas and that is a Texas license. Also, look in the upper corner. Right below "USA" is the state abbreviation "TX." Are we sure this is even for real.
  • Good question. My DL from Arizona has my pic in the lower right corner. Hmmmm.
  • Ummm...he's an Arizona Diamondback....doesn't mean he lives in Arizona, he may live in TX and therefore have a TX driver license
  • Where does it say he is in AZ? He PLAYS for them, but few ball players live off-season where they play ball. Too much moving around. Most pick a place they want to live, and that is where they keep their legal address. During the season they rent condos or bunk with a buddy who might live in that city year round.
  • It looks like a California Drivers License cause it looks like mine by the parts that are visible
  • Tax' are different in Texas. Check State Income Tax, also if your registering a vehicle in Arizona the plates cost more, so you keep it in Texas.
  • Man are you guys hard up for news.
  • Obummer has a Connecticut S.S. number, but that's OK. Lie, cheat, whatever it takes, if you're a Dem...
  • No where did it say he was getting an Arizona license. All it said was that he renewed his license which obviously it is from Texas.
  • OOPs! Some clerk is gonna get kidded about needing an eye test! LOL!!!
  • What are you folks worried about? Complaining about lame news IT'S SPORTS. It is meant to entertain you not give you life advice.

  • enough with this idiotic headline/story. wtf
  • Just a note on a typo in this. " the easy party-" should be the easy part. I kind of found this funny from an article on a mix up.

James Harden wants some help in the backcourt

I wonder how Patrick Beverley feels about this. Coming off the worst performance of his Houston Rockets career in the team’s Game 5 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, James Harden indicated that he wants the team to upgrade in the backcourt this offseason.   Interestingly, Beverley is set to become a free agent this summer. It’s not known whether Harden’s comments...

Lightning reach Stanley Cup Final with Game 7 win

The Tampa Bay Lightning advanced to the 2015 Stanley Cup Final on Friday night by becoming the first team ever to win a Game 7 against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Tampa Bay’s 2-0 victory ends a streak of seven straight Game 7 wins for the Rangers on home ice and prevents New York from returning to the Cup Final, where it lost to the Los Angeles Kings in five...

The Orlando Magic have again hired one of the franchise’s former point guards to lead the team, but this time, Orlando went with one with previous head coaching experience. An original member of the Orlando Magic, Skiles averaged nearly 13 points and over 7 assists during the franchise’s first five seasons...

Falcons waive Shembo over animal cruelty charges

The Atlanta Falcons may not have done the right thing when they selected linebacker Prince Shembo in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL draft. But they sure did act in a timely manner by waiving the second-year linebacker mere hours after he was charged with felony animal cruelty in Georgia. In waiving Shembo, the Falcons had this to say: “We are aware of the charges that have...

Report: Tom Brady’s suspension appeal hearing set for June 23

The date has reportedly been set. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, citing a league source, Tom Brady’s appeal for his four-game suspension for his role in Deflategate will take place Tuesday, June 23. There’s a chance it could be continued June 25, Schefter added. Tom Brady’s appeal hearing will be held June 23, and possibly continued June 25, a league source told ESPN...

Peterson is wrong (sorta): NFL players have great power

Adrian Peterson went on a Twitter rant yesterday.  Because when you plead out of a felony child abuse charge that makes you miss a season and then try to force your team to trade you, meeting your wants and needs is right at the top of everyone's list.  Although his outburst on social media certainly isn't going to change anything for himself, it's worth noting that some of AP...

Scout: A-Rod 'looks like he doesn't give a (expletive)'

All Alex Rodriguez had to do in order to be successful again was to stop caring. That might sound like a bad thing, but one advanced scout thinks the New York Yankees slugger has been able to revitalize his offensive game in large part because he stopped caring about all of the other things that come with being A-Rod. “He has the easiest swing I’ve ever seen from him,” an advance...
