Still not the strangest thing Brian Wilson has ever done. This is a spoof of the Funny or Die bit, Between Two Ferns, only this one’s called Uncaged with Sasquatch!, with the mythical beast serving as host. This time around he interviews Giants closer Brian Wilson, except that the segment doesn’t go as planned because Wilson keeps receiving personal phone calls via telephones he brings with along with him. This upsets Sasquatch to the point that he storms off the set. Cue the hilarity! Public access television or not, who in their right mind would give Sasquatch his own show, knowing how terrible an interviewer he is. Still better than those clucking hens on The View though. In the top of the eighth inning of a 2-2 ballgame, San Diego’s Carlos Quinten came to the plate with Chase Headley on first base and one out. Quinten sent...

GIFcap: Melky Cabrera Stage Dives Into The Stands In Left Field

Despite being Giants fans, I have to give credit where it’s due, as the people down the left field line collectively caught Melky Cabrera as he dove into the stands to make a catch

The Giants took the lead in the first as Nate Schierholtz started the game off with a lead-off home run, his fourth home run of the season, giving the Giants a 1-0 lead. Postgame Videos – Giants Beat Padres 7-1, July 23, 2012

Postgame Wrap: No Ham is Safe

Tonight’s game was vintage NL West. The Giants got up big in the first inning, and then fizzled. The Padres fought back in the second, and then fizzled. Madison Bumgarner, who looked shaky early, settled down and allowed just 3 hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch – and 7 strikeouts – after the second inning. Edinson Volquez, part of the Mat Latos trade, looked shaky early but allowed...

The Lineup Card: 8 People Who Could Use a Change of Scenery by Baseball Prospectus

1. Brandon Belt Brandon Belt burst onto the scene in 2010 and was, in Kevin Goldstein's words, "the biggest breakout in the minor leagues in 2010."It’s hard to argue with that assessment. Belt was the Giants’ fifth-round selection in the 2009 amateur draft, and all he did in his professional debut was zoom from High-A to Triple-A, hitting a cumulative...

Baseball player known as Kung-Fu Panda injures hamstring doing splits (video)

Your browser does not support iframes. In clearly the least shocking development from Tuesday’s slate of baseball games is the news that Pablo Sandoval, the San Francisco Giants infielder who affectionately goes by the name of Kung-Fu Panda, injured his hamstring stretching out and practically doing the splits to catch a throw in order to [...]

Daily Friar 7.25.12

Every time we play the Giants it has a playoff atmosphere to it. I get that vibe especially when we are playing in San Francisco. I don't know if it's the sold out crowds or what, but it feels like a playoff game every time. Those people up there live and die with every pitch it seems, they go crazy for a base hit even. But that place really exploded when Angel Pagan stole...

Giants Beat Padres 7-1, Improve to 54-42

The Giants tagged Clayton Richard for four runs in the first inning of tonight’s game and it was cruise control the rest of the way, as Ryan Vogelsong held the Padres to one run over seven innings, and Buster Posey added a three-run blast in the fifth inning for good measure. Pretty much everything went right — or at least, everything that needed to go right. The Giants’ 2...

Giants targeting bullpen help before trade deadline

Among the first sparks of trade deadline fever breaking out today with the Ichiro trade to New York and the Miami Marlins trading away infielder Omar Infante and starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez to the Detroit Tigers, the Giants seem to be searching for some help in the bullpen. Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi of FOX sports reported yesterday they have a major league source saying the...

Switch pitcher could see action in MLB

29-year-old New York Yankees minor leaguer Pat Venditte normally wouldn’t be a player worth noticing. He’s been in the minors for the past seven seasons after the Yankees selected him in the 45th round of the 2007 amateur draft.  On the surface, Venditte is nothing more than your non-prospect who has bounced around in small towns in an attempt to make it to the Majors. That’s...

Rob Gronkowski ended all the speculation surrounding his Week 1 status with seven simple words. “I’m ready to go. I’ll be playing,” Gronkowski told reporters at Gillette Stadium on Monday. Blue Jays could look to trade Jose Bautista in the offseason?

The Toronto Blue Jays were hoping to be a legitimate playoff contender this season, and they looked the part for the first half of the year before falling apart after the All-Star break. They currently are sitting at 69-67 and are 10 games behind the division-leading Baltimore Orioles, who have begun extending their lead in the AL East. According to a report from Nick Cafardo, the...

Japanese H.S. game goes 50 innings before winner decided

Hard to believe, but Mark Townsend of Yahoo Big League Stew reports that a high school “Rubber Baseball” game in Japan went a full 50 innings, or 5.6 full length games before being decided 3-0 (no scoring the first 49 innings).  The winner was Chukyo High School over Sotoku in the tournament semifinal game. Some of the stats are almost too much to be true.  According to Townsend...

Oakland Raiders fielding oldest roster in NFL

The Raiders spent the offseason loading up on a slew of veteran talent, a calculated effort to inflate their win total. To nobody's surprise, it's subsequently inflated the team's collective age. Jimmy Kempski of Philly.com, doing some calculations following Saturday's final roster cutdowns, deduced that Oakland has the oldest roster in the NFL. The average age...

Report: Sam clears waivers, can join an NFL practice squad

ST. LOUIS — Michael Sam was probably never an ideal fit with the St. Louis Rams and it had absolutely nothing to do with his sexual orientation. They’re just too well-stocked at defensive end, Sam’s position. Sam showed up for his face-to-face exit meeting with coach Jeff Fisher Sunday, a few hours after clearing waivers. He shook hands with two reporters and accepted well...

In order, Orf, who spent most of his season at second base, played catcher, first base, second...
