Via Sportress of Blogitude:

On Thursday, Washington Nationals rookie slugger Bryce Harper held a free one-day camp for aspiring baseball players between the ages of 6 and 14. The Bryce Harper Baseball Pro was held at Fairfax (Va.) High School and from the looks of it, a grand time was had by one and all.

On top of the thrill Harper certainly gave the kids in attendance, it appears he must have also broke out his giant-sized checkbook to make a donation of $2,500 to the Greater Washington Urban League, as evidenced by the ginormous check featured in the above video.

But perhaps the most compelling part of the day — at least that which was captured on video — was Harper’s sage advice to the young kids in attendance as it pertains to the art of hitting and batsmanship, which isn’t a word but I’m using it anyway. And it goes a little something like this and can be found at approximately the 1:05 mark of the video:

“Be as sexy as you can.”

Brilliant. I’m smelling a brand-spanking-new catchphrase for Harper, and it’s not like he hasn’t already cornered the market on that pursuit. He already has the “Clown question, bro” one, and I previously argued that another quote from Harper which included the phrase “Trying to find some mellowness” would be suitable for t-shirts and whatnot as well. Now here he goes with “Be as sexy as you can.”

And when it gets right down to it, “Be as sexy as you can” is a perfectly fine slice of wisdom to impart upon the young people. Or it probably isn’t. I bet the young and husky Little Leaguer suspected to be Bryce Harper in this photo would have taken that kind of advice to heart.

  • Bryce Harper may be a great young big leaguer, but he's still in the minors when it comes to things like GIVING ADVICE. Oh, well. Perhaps he was among the tainted children who read the kid's books written by Madonna? ;)
  • Yeah, great advice, 'be as sexy as you can'. When they said athletes were not role models, I'm guessing this is what they meant... Be sure you don't tell kids to 'live up to your potential', or to 'spend you life helping other people' or anything that really matters. Let's just put all their ambitions and aspirations on 'being sexy'. What a looser!
  • Doesn't sound like Bryce Harper should be giving kids advice. What the heck.

Bryce Harper to children at camp: ‘Be as sexy as you can!’ (Video)

Bryce Harper took a portion of his day off on Thursday to spend time with young ballplayers in the Greater Washington Urban League. He also donated $2,500 to benefit the league. Bryce Harper’s advice to 6-14 year olds at his baseball camp? “Be as sexy as you can”

Listen closely at the 1:05 mark for a soon-to-be classic Bryce Harper quote.  It’s no “That’s a clown question, bro,” but it’s brilliant nonetheless. The Washington superstar found himself in Fairfax, Virginia this past Thursday at his own day camp for aspiring baseballers—the aptly named Bryce Harper Baseball ProCamp—for youngsters aged 6-14.  Harper interacted...

Bryce Harper Appears To Have Been A Husky 11-Year-Old
