Like all other major league teams, questions abound for the Cincinnati Reds as the team prepares to embark upon its 2013 season. Who’s going to produce, how’s the bullpen going to hold up, how is the competition going to set up in the National League Central and so on and so forth. But all speculation may be for naught now, because according to one Reds fan, a pancake he recently cooked up which appears to feature the team’s “C” logo might be an encouraging omen of good things to come for the ballclub. An oracle that is as revealing as it is tasty, if you will. The Reds fan who claims responsibility for the possible culinary omen is Joel Knueven, and he describes how the simple exercise of whipping up a batch of chocolate chip pancakes last Sunday resulted in an eerie development. Via OMGReds (by way of Eye on Baseball): While making chocolate chip pancakes with his son the morning of Sunday, March 24, Knueven flipped one over and right in the middle of the flap jack was a wishbone “C”.  “The Lord works in mysterious ways, I’m just glad that my pancake batter ladle was chosen as the conduit through which this covenant was made with Reds faithful” said Knueven.  “This was NOT planned, nor did I use some template to try to create it–it looks so dead on that people have asked me that question.” Knueven has since listed the treasured breakfast treat-turned-harbinger of a possible World Series title (at least in his eyes) on eBay. The listing: CINCINNATI REDS MIRACLE PANCAKE!   The Cincinnati Reds wishbone “C” miraculously appeared on this amazing pancake. It is believed to be a divine prophecy that the Cincinnati Reds will be World Champions in 2013.   Here is your chance to own a supernatural memento of what is certain to be a historic Cincinnati Reds season. This carefully preserved chocolate chip pancake has been frozen and placed within an air tight container to insure that it’s message of hope can be seen by the world.    Shipment costs may be higher due to the fact that climate controlled transport should be secured to maintain the integrity of this priceless artifact.  All proceeds from auction will be donated to the Reds Community Fund. The opening asking price? $50. But as you read above, any proceeds will be donated to charity, so that’s nice that he’s not trying to profit off divine, pancake-based intervention. But if you ask me, I usually stick with crepes for all of my batter-based signs of baseball soothsaying. Don’t ask me why, it’s just how I roll. Matt Stafford's fiancee rips newspaper over article

Kelly Hall, Matt Stafford’s fiancée, will do whatever it takes to defend her man. So when a Detroit Sun Times writer called out the Lions quarterback in a recent article, she made sure to respond. Hall and Stafford flew to Syracuse to watch Michigan State take on Oklahoma in the NCAA Tournament on Friday. Stafford attended the University of Georgia, but since they didn’t...

Frozen Four: Providence earns first bid since 1985

What a difference 30 years makes.   The top-seeded Providence Friars (24-13-2) hadn’t reached the Frozen Four since 1985 when they took to their home ice to face No. 2 seed Denver (24-14-2) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey championship. Yet the Friars netted three third-period goals to earn a rousing 4-1 win and become the second Hockey...

Report: Discussions to bring NFL team to L.A. are progressing

At this point, we know the NFL is moving back to Los Angeles; the question is when. According to Giants co-owner Steve Tisch, we could be very close. “This could come to a vote in a year,” Tisch said at the league meetings, via Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He then said that the NFL has made it “very clear” that those three cities — Oakland, San Diego and...

For those of us who grew up on stories of Chris Mullin balling out for St. John’s as a part of the old Big East, this is a pretty big deal. Michigan State beats Louisville, punches Final Four ticket

Michigan State, a team that was 13-7, 4-3 in the Big Ten in late January, has reached the Final Four. It’s incredible.  The No. 7-seeded Spartans defeated No. 4 seed Louisville in overtime in the Elite Eight at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse Sunday afternoon, 76-70. The win sends Tom Izzo to the national semifinals for the seventh time in his career in East Lansing.  Following...

Ex-NHL player viciously attacks opponent before game

The scene prior to a recent professional hockey game in Sweden was shocking, to say the least. Former Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers enforcer Andre Deveaux went off the deep end prior to a playoff game when he attacked an opponent before a game. Seemingly out of nowhere, Deveaux sprinted from the boards to center ice where he unleashed a vicious slash before jumping on...

Rick Barnes a possibility for Tennessee coaching job?

Could Rick Barnes trade his burnt orange to the brighter Tennessee shade of the color? Some college basketball experts think that may be a possibility. In discussing his recent dismissal from Texas, Barnes hinted that he may have a new job pretty soon: Rick Barnes: “Will I coach again? Yeah. Probably quicker than you think.” — Chip Brown (@ChipBrownHD) March 29, 2015 ...

Report: NFL looking into Bill Belichick's camera ideas

I guess the NFL, just like everyone else, has a hard time not listening to Bill Belichick. According to Albert Breer, the NFL has finally decided to look into Belichick’s idea for goal line cameras. The NFL will start research and development on Monday into Bill Belichick's idea to add cameras to the goal line and other areas for replay. — Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) March...
