The Drug Enforcement Administration and Major League Baseball are investigating Alex Rodriguez’s nutrition and training adviser for possible links to performance enhancing drugs, NYDailyNews.com reports.

Anthony Bosch, a well-known figure among Latin ballplayers in South Florida, has advised the 37-year-old Yankees slugger and third baseman on nutrition, dietary supplements and training.

A source told the Daily News that Rodriguez and Bosch consulted with at least one other expert about blood test results.

MLB investigators turned over information about Bosch and his father, physician Pedro Publio Bosch, to federal investigators.

Sources involved in the current probe have told The News that MLB and federal investigators are trying to determine if Anthony Bosch and his father are involved in supplying banned substances to ballplayers.

MLB is concerned about a widespread ring of suppliers of synthetic testosterone, human growth hormone and other drugs allegedly given to players who have sought to circumvent MLB’s collective drug-testing program.

One way to get around MLB’s drug-testing program is through difficult-to-detect performance-enhancing drugs that players administer through patches, creams or gels on their palms, elbows or under their arms.

Bosch and his father came under scrutiny from MLB and the DEA in 2009 for their links to Manny Ramirez — the former Los Angeles Dodgers slugger who received a 50-game suspension that year for using a banned substance.

Back then, the DEA began an administrative review of Pedro Bosch because investigators suspected he wrote a prescription for the banned drug used by Ramirez.

Calls placed by The News to Anthony and Pedro Bosch haven’t been returned. MLB, the Yankees and Rodriguez’s lawyer, Jay Reisinger, declined comment.

Rodriguez recently had hip surgery. He is expected to return to the Yankees for the 2013 season.
