Via Los That Sports Blog:

We’ve seen on numerous occasions that parking your vehicle within range of batted baseballs can be a dangerous proposition.

Last month a Los Angeles Angels employee took a chance parking in the danger zone and this is what happened. Earlier this week a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks organization was the victim of a similar fate.

Not only did Alex Kim receive an autographed ball, but a bit more.

I would still suggest being careful where you park near baseball stadiums though.

Jered Weaver appears unfamiliar with catcher’s practice throw to second base (GIF)

A bit of spring training humor occurred recently involving Los Angeles of Angels of Anaheim pitcher Jared Weaver and his evident — albeit perhaps only temporarily –  unfamiliarity with the common practice of a catcher making a warmup throw of his own to the second base bag  following a pitcher’s warmup tosses. Anyone who has ever played baseball, even all the way back to...

Howie Kendrick Player Profile & Projections

By Robert Cunningham - AngelsWin.com Staff Writer 2013 Outlook: Batting Title? Nah, it just doesn't seem like it will ever happen for Howie. However, Kendrick does bring a valuable home-grown talent to second base that goes unappreciated at times. Although Howie isn't a Cano or Kinsler type at the position he does bring steady value with his bat and ability to make contact...

Pujols hits first spring homer in Angels' loss

TEMPE, Ariz. Apparently Albert Pujols doesn't need his knee to hit. The Angels have gone slow this spring with their first baseman, who underwent offseason surgery on his right knee. But his swing looked to be in midseason form Saturday when Pujols crushed a majestic solo home run off Colorado's Juan Nicasio in the third inning of the Angels' 8-6 loss to the Rockies...

Chris Iannetta Player Profile & Projections

By Robert Cunningham, AngelsWin.com Staff Writer 2013 Outlook: Chris is coming off an injury season where he only saw action in 79 Major League games. Look for Iannetta to bat in the back part of the lineup, probably in the 8-hole, behind Kendrick/Callaspo and in front of Bourjos on the average day. Iannetta brings a great batting eye to the plate as evidenced by his career...

Jered Weaver Player Profile & Projections

By Robert Cunningham - AngelsWin.com Staff Writer 2013 Outlook: In 2012 we saw a slight concern with Jered as his average fastball velocity dipped down a full tick from 89 to 88 mph. However, Jered does several other things really well that compensate for the lost velocity. Look to Jered to be the team ace again this year as he does an incredible job entering each game with a...

Angels' Blanton pitches 2 innings before rainout

Joe Blanton got two innings of work in Friday before the Los Angeles Angels and Arizona Diamondbacks were rained out with the score 1-1 in the bottom of third. Pitching in rain, Blanton made his second spring training start and allowed one run and two hits in two innings. ''His bread and butter is his two-seam fastball, and it looked real good,'' Angels catcher...

2013 Player Projection: Andrew Romine

With Maicer Izturis gone, the Angels are on the hunt for his heir apparent and Andrew Romine should get the first shot at filling his metaphorically large but physically small shoes. But is he up to the task? 2012 Stats: 21 PA, .412 AVG, .500 OBP, .412 SLG, 2 R, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 1 SB, 0 CS, 32 K, .413 wOBA, 165 OPS+, 0.2 fWAR 2013 ZiPS Projections: 494 PA, .232 AVG, .288 OBP...

Royals 17, Angels 11

Albert Pujols homered for the second straight game, one of four shots by the Los Angeles Angels. On this day, that wasn't nearly enough. Jeff Francoeur, Billy Butler and Chris Getz combined to get nine hits and drive in nine runs Sunday as the Kansas City Royals beat the Angels 17-11 to win for the 13th time in 14 games. Pujols homered in the fifth off Bruce Chen. The star...

A Rebuttal to Ron Shandler and David Gonos re: Mike Trout

Baseball HQ's Ron Shandler makes some ostenibly persuasive arguments as to why Trout should not be drafted anywhere near his current price tag (top-three overall pick or $40-plus dollar buy), as does my industry colleague David Gonos. While there's little doubt it would be wise to bet on regression from his monster rookie year, I think both overstate the case and that Trout...
