PLAYERS: Jeff Keppinger
TEAMS: Tampa Bay Rays

Via Tireball:

It is a fear of many and for Jeff Keppinger it is one that may have a negative impact on his future income. The 32-year-old infielder fell down the stairs at his home CBS Sports has reported.

In the fall Keppinger broke his right fibula; the fibula is a bone in the calf of the leg.

Keppinger is hoping to be ready to resume baseball activities in January after suffering what has been termed a small break. The eight year veteran is at home recovering.

Last season Keppinger hit .325/.367/.439 with nine homers and 40 RBI in 2012 for the Rays.

Rays Extend Evan Longoria 6 years $100 Million

Anytime a $100 million contract is signed in professional sports it catches the eyes of all fans. Especially when it comes from a smaller market team like the Tampa Bay Rays; but in order to ensure their franchise player stuck around long term it was a necessary move that had to be made. This deal works out great for both sides and really demonstrates the kind of character Longoria...

Rays Extend Evan Longoria, Again

Until he was dethroned by Mike Trout this summer, Evan Longoria had been a fixture atop my annual Trade Value series. It was partially due to the fact that he was both young and an excellent player, but, primarily, he ruled the list because his contract was so absurdly slanted in the Rays favor. Despite already racking up +29 WAR in his first four years in the Majors, Longoria...

Report: B.J. Upton Bidding War Down to Braves, Phillies, Mystery Team

A bidding war is brewing in the NL East for a speedy center fielder. The Braves and Phillies are the finalists for B.J. B.J. Upton expected to sign with new team this week

Most highly-coveted free agents will wait until the Winter Meetings (held in early December) to begin seriously considering their options. But a few pieces of the off-season puzzle typically fall into place a little early. And this year will apparently be no different. Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times writes in his Sunday column…

The Rays are the Smartest Team in Baseball and Make The Mets Look Even Worse

Ok, I’ll be honest, I had a realyl good idea for a post as soon as I heard about Evan Longoria’s new $100 million contract extension. However, I had to go to class and therefore had to wait to actually sit down and write the thing. In that time, ESPN’s Dave Schoenfield, who gets paid to write about baseball full time, wrote a article that hit most of the points I wanted to...
