PLAYERS: Matt Kemp
TEAMS: Los Angeles Dodgers

Via Larry Brown Sports:

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp recently paid tribute to his grandmother and late grandfather with a massive tattoo on his chest. The artwork was done by a 23-year-old tattoo artist named Jun Cha, and as you can see he is incredibly talented. Kemp tweeted the photo you see above over the weekend with the following message:

“If it wasn’t for my grandparents I wouldn’t b where I’m at 2day!”

Here is a closer look at the amount of detail that went into the portrait, via Jun Cha’s website.

Kemp's grandfather, Vincent Mukes, died in November. His grandmother, Doris, said a few years ago she didn't like all of her grandson's tattoos.

"I tell him, 'You've got this beautiful body, and you mar it all up,'" Mukes told Sports Illustrated in 2011.

We've shown you some detailed tattoos over the years here at LBS (many of which are extremely disturbing), but Kemp's is easily one of the most amazing.

Los Angeles Dodgers have answers on paper but questions on the field

They blamed it all on “jelling.” The Dodgers embarked upon a flurry of high profile trades in July and August only to fall out of the division race by mid-September and, ultimately, the wild card chase in game 161.  The prevailing theory was that the hastily-put-together improved team, that included stars like Hanley Ramirez and Adrian Gonzalez,  just didn’t have time to...

Dodgers showing interest in Scott Rolen

The Dodgers who have a payroll of at least $213mm, are set to open the season with Hanley Ramirez at shorstop and Luis Cruz at third. Ramirez provides great pop for a shortstop but questionable defense, while Cruz provides just the opposite. But besides Ramirez and Cruz, the next Dodger option at third base is Juan Uribe who may be playing softball very soon as rumors have surfaced...

Player Profile #149: Andre Ethier | OF | LAD

Andre Ethier is a very solid hitter, who in 2013 will be batting sixth after names such as Matt Kemp, Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez. Not too shabby right? While the RBI opportunities might be abundant, Ethier still hasn’t been able to shake one major flaw in his game; his inability to hit left-handed pitching. Over his 7-year career Ethier has compiled a .238/.296/.352 slash...

Dodgers' Carl Crawford Should be Ready on Opening Day

Carl Crawford is often the forgotten piece of the blockbuster trade last season between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers.  This is largely due to the fact that he was injured and has yet to make his on-field debut for the Dodgers.  Los Angeles expects Crawford to be recovered and ready to make that debut on Opening Day, though. According to Mark Saxson of ESPN...
