New York Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki notched his 4,000th professional hit on Wednesday night – 2,722 in MLB and 1,278 in Japan.  All-time hit king Pete Rose told Bob Nightengale of USA Today that Ichiro’s hits in Japan shouldn’t count. “He’s still 600 hits away from catching Derek Jeter,” said Rose to Nightengale, “so how can he catch

  • Ichiro NEVER said anything about the hits so why do people continue to say this doesn't count for this reason or that reason. drop it
  • Rose is such a moron...nobody is comparing his 4000+ hits to a MLB record....simply that he has over 4000 hits as a 'professional'. The Japanese League IS a pro league, because they get paid. And it's no disgrace to have that many hits in Japan, they know how to pitch as evidenced by some of the best arms in MLB being Japanese pitchers. The reason Rose is saying anything at all is to try to keep the spotlight on his sorry asss. Hey Pete, YOUR NEVER GETTING INTO THE HALL OF FAME...NEVER!!! So stop making a fool of yourself, even if it's all your good at right now.
  • Well Giantsrepeat,he's done a lot more than you'll ever do.Wo's your favorite?A-rod or Micky Mantle?Pete Rose belongs in the hall of fame, bottom line!!!
  • Your right, he should be in for the numbers he put up, but keep dreaming, he's never getting in because he broke the cardinal rule in MLB. Since his career ended he has become a pathethic laughing stock. If he had manned up when he was caught instead of spending a decade lying like a five year old he may have gotten in by now. All he had to say was that he has a gambling problem and needs help, then maybe...just maybe baseball would have given him some consideration. But EVERYONE hates a LIAR!!!! When he finally confessed ten years later it was too late. So he's where he belongs, on the outside looking in. And that's a shame because he does deserve to be in for what he did between the white lines...it's what he did outside of them that cost him dearly.
  • Pete Rose was a Fantastic baseball player. But he is a scumbag as a person. He broke the rules of baseball and he knew it. So I say, **** you Pete, you are a cheat.
  • Pete Rose the baseball player is the greatest hits player to ever play the game. Pete Rose the person is the greatest guy
to keep running his mouth. Hey Pete, take one for the team and
    be quiet.
  • If these hits count than, Warren Moon should hold the records for playing proball beating all the others in the NFL
  • I agree with all of the above

RUMORS & GOSSIP

Falcons waive Shembo after report of animal cruelty charges

The Atlanta Falcons may not have done the right thing when they selected linebacker Prince Shembo in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL draft. But they sure did act in a timely manner by waiving the second-year linebacker mere hours after he was charged with felony animal cruelty in Georgia. In waiving Shembo, the Falcons had this to say: “We are aware of the charges that have...

The date has reportedly been set. Peterson is wrong (sorta): NFL players have great power

Adrian Peterson went on a Twitter rant yesterday.  Because when you plead out of a felony child abuse charge that makes you miss a season and then try to force your team to trade you, meeting your wants and needs is right at the top of everyone's list.  Although his outburst on social media certainly isn't going to change anything for himself, it's worth noting that some of AP...

Scout: A-Rod 'looks like he doesn't give a (expletive)'

All Alex Rodriguez had to do in order to be successful again was to stop caring. That might sound like a bad thing, but one advanced scout thinks the New York Yankees slugger has been able to revitalize his offensive game in large part because he stopped caring about all of the other things that come with being A-Rod. “He has the easiest swing I’ve ever seen from him,” an advance...

Belichick mum on Deflategate in first remarks since discipline

FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was cleared of any wrongdoing in the Wells Report, but he still indirectly received harsh punishment for Deflategate. The Patriots lost a first-round draft pick in 2016 and a fourth-rounder in 2017. His starting quarterback, Tom Brady, is currently suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season. Brady is appealing...

Dwight Howard suspended for first game of 2015-16 season

Even if the Houston Rockets had pulled off a win against the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, they would have likely been without center Dwight Howard for the following game. The NBA announced on Friday that Howard has been suspended for the first game of the 2015-16 season for throwing an elbow at Andre Iguodala. HOU's D. Howard has common foul...

Bucs veterans missing Jameis while he's at rookie symposium

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has apparently made a lasting impression on the team’s veterans after just a few practices. Winston is with the rest of the NFL’s rookies right now in Los Angeles for the Rookie Symposium, and his absence is being keenly felt on the practice field and in the locker room. Defensive end Jacquies Smith recently spoke about the...

Bulls GM: No teams asked to talk with Tom Thibodeau

Tom Thibodeau may be difficult to work with, but the Chicago Bulls are doing a better job of turning him into a sympathetic figure than they are of validating themselves for firing a head coach that reached the postseason every year he was in charge. Before the Bulls fired Thibodeau on Thursday and blasted him...Read More

Aaron Rodgers could take on more play-calling duties

Aaron Rodgers could have more control than ever running the Green Bay Packers offense this upcoming season. The team is undergoing a sort of transformation offensively this offseason with the play-calling duties falling now to Tom Clements. Head coach Mike McCarthy has been the man behind the mic, so to speak, since taking over in 2006. But an abundance of blunders caused him...
