The Boston Red Sox were able to pick up their fifth straight win on the road Sunday against the Minnesota Twins, but it took a little while to do it. The Red Sox came back out and captured the win after a three-hour rain delay.
Starting pitcher John Lackey pitched six innings in the 5-1 victory, but he knew after the first half hour of the delay that he wouldn’t be going back into the game. Lackey said the team spent the time watching classic baseball movie "The Sandlot" in the clubhouse.

Lackey earned the win, his first since April 28, improving to 2-4, lowering his ERA from 4.05 to 3.31. “The record doesn’t indicate or reflect how well he’s pitched,” manager John Farrell said. “Now...

David Ortiz continues to slug and he certainly let his former team experience just that on Saturday night. Ortiz would account for half of the 12 runs scored by Boston in its 12-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
Beginning in the first-inning, Ortiz launched a one out, three-run home run to right field off of Scott Diamond, scoring Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia to give the...
The 2004 Boston Red Sox team achieved some special things that season. They made that historical and improbable comeback from a 3-0 deficit to the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series, and then went on to win the team’s first title in 86 years when they beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series.
The loose clubhouse atmosphere was a staple for that...
The Red Sox look to continue their positive momentum and pick up their fourth straight win on Saturday night against the Minnesota Twins.
The Sox are banged up in a number of ways with Shane Victorino with a back injury and short stop Stephen Drew out after also sustaining a back injury Friday night in Boston’s extra-inning win over the Twins. Pedro Ciricao gets the starting...
Dustin Pedroia may just be the epitome of who the Red Sox are. It may not always be perfect or pretty, but they get the job done. And they both certainly exemplified that during Friday’s 3-2 extra innings win over the Minnesota Twins.
Pedroia has been getting criticism for not being a power hitter so far this season, as he has only one home run...
When the Twins open up their nine-game road trip on Monday night in Atlanta, it will mark the first time this season that Minnesota's pitchers will have to step into the batter's box.
It just so happened that the three Twins starters pitching against the Braves Kevin Correia, Mike Pelfrey and Vance Worley happen to have spent their entire careers in the National League...
David Ortiz had three hits, including two home runs and six RBIs to help power the Boston Red Sox past the Minnesota Twins 12-5 at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN on Saturday night.

The Minnesota Twins have lost five straight and are a season-worst four games under .500. Facing a nine-game road trip, starting with a three-game interleague series against first-place Atlanta on Monday, things could quickly get out of hand if they don't rediscover their offense.
''It's tough to win a ballgame when you don't have any clutch hits,'' Chris...
