> Tim Lincecum has gotten a haircut. Actually, it appears he has gotten several of them. Back in December, rumors swirled that the San Francisco Giants pitcher had chopped off his long, flowing locks. There was photo evidence at the time, but it was a bit blurry and there were some skeptics who refused to believe it. Now, it’s official. Lincecum was one of the biggest stories from Giants media day on Friday, as every photographer and reporter with a cell phone camera wanted to get a shot of his new boys regular haircut. This angle really gives you the full effect of the comb-over that Timmy has decided to rock: Clean cut Timmy twitter.com/CSNBaggs/statu… — Andrew Baggarly (@CSNBaggs) February 8, 2013 And alas, an era has come to an end. Whatever luck Lincecum’s long hair may have contained seemed to run out last season, as he posted a 10-15 record and an ERA of 5.18 (which ballooned from the impressive 2.74 he posted in 2011). There were bound to be some drastic changes made in the right-hander’s life, and he probably didn’t want to give up his crazy In-N-Out burger order. Giants fans are hoping the clean-cut look will lead to a bounce-back season. RUMORS & GOSSIP

Jimbo Fisher: Winston is victim of ‘character assassination’

Jameis Winston is probably going to be taken with the first overall pick in the NFL draft next month. If not for the off-field questions surrounding the former Florida State star, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would likely have nothing to think about. Winston’s former coach, Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher, has only one thing to say...Read More

Russell Wilson on contract: 'It's going to work out'

The clock is ticking on the Seattle Seahawks to sign Russell Wilson to a long-term extension before he enters the final year of his rookie deal. Set to count just $1.7 million against the cap in 2015, Wilson is slated to receive a rather large payday in the not-so-distant future. If the two sides cannot come to a solution on an extension, the Super Bowl-winning signal caller will...

Kentucky seeks one kind of history, Coach K makes another

The 2015 Final Four is set, and while this college basketball season has featured Kentucky’s quest for 40-0, another storied program in the sport has managed to create a major achievement, one that ripples through the pages of time. Frozen Four: Providence earns first bid since 1985

What a difference 30 years makes.   The top-seeded Providence Friars (24-13-2) hadn’t reached the Frozen Four since 1985 when they took to their home ice to face No. 2 seed Denver (24-14-2) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey championship. Yet the Friars netted three third-period goals to earn a rousing 4-1 win and become the second Hockey...

Report: Discussions to bring NFL team to L.A. are progressing

At this point, we know the NFL is moving back to Los Angeles; the question is when. According to Giants co-owner Steve Tisch, we could be very close. “This could come to a vote in a year,” Tisch said at the league meetings, via Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He then said that the NFL has made it “very clear” that those three cities — Oakland, San Diego and...

Michigan State beats Louisville, punches Final Four ticket

Michigan State, a team that was 13-7, 4-3 in the Big Ten in late January, has reached the Final Four. It’s incredible.  The No. 7-seeded Spartans defeated No. 4 seed Louisville in overtime in the Elite Eight at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse Sunday afternoon, 76-70. The win sends Tom Izzo to the national semifinals for the seventh time in his career in East Lansing.  Following...

Ex-NHL player viciously attacks opponent before game

The scene prior to a recent professional hockey game in Sweden was shocking, to say the least. Former Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers enforcer Andre Deveaux went off the deep end prior to a playoff game when he attacked an opponent before a game. Seemingly out of nowhere, Deveaux sprinted from the boards to center ice where he unleashed a vicious slash before jumping on...
