New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman gave skydiving a try on Monday, and he loved it so much he went back for seconds. In retrospect, Cashman probably wishes he had just kept it to one jump. As John Harper of the NY Daily News shared with us, Cashman went skydiving with the Golden Knights of the US Army on Monday at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida. After feeling the adrenaline rush of one parachute jump, Cashman went back up in the air to try it again. Unfortunately, he broke his ankle as he was landing on the ground at the end of his second jump. “I heard a pop in my ankle,” Cashman said as medical crews were tending to him on the ground. He later told Harper via text message that his ankle is broken and he is unsure if it will require surgery. One of the people who was near Cashman when he landed reportedly said he or she could see a bone sticking out of his leg. Harper shared a photo of Cashman laying on the ground waiting to receive medical attention. Here we are thinking that incredibly strange spring training injuries like this and this can only happen to players. Little did we know, GMs are just as susceptible.
