The Carolina Mudcats completed a home stand against the Wilmington Blue Rocks with an 8-7 win at Five County Stadium Tuesday night.
Right-hander Cody Anderson started for the Mudcats and gave up eight hits and four runs in five innings pitched while striking out out six. Louis Head (1-1) entered in the sixth and took the win for Carolina.
Left-hander Sam Selman started for Wilmington and pitched three frames with four hits, three runs, four stolen bases and two strikeouts. The losing pitcher was Spencer Patton (5-2) with three innings pitched, five hits, five runs, two strikeouts and two home runs allowed.
The Blue Rocks got on the board first with singles from second baseman Justin Trapp and shortstop Jack Lopez and a sacrifice fly from designated hitter Jorge Bonifacio.
Carolina responded in the bottom of the second with a leadoff double from designated hitter Paddy Matera followed by a walk for catcher Tony Wolters.
