Zebulon, N.C. – The Carolina Mudcats struck back at the series-winning Wilmington Blue Rocks, demolishing them with a 12-1 score Wednesday afternoon at Five County Stadium.
Right-handed pitcher Cody Anderson (2-0) got the win for the Mudcats, pitching five innings and holding the Blue Rocks scoreless for three innings, with a three up three down inning in the second.
The Mudcats started off strong by putting an early run on the scoreboard in the first inning. Leading off for the Mudcats, center fielder Tyler Naquin knocked the ball deep into left field earning his first triple of the season and scored on a RBI single by right fielder Jordan Smith.
The Blue Rocks evened the score 1-1 in the top of the fourth with a RBI single by second baseman Justin Trapp.
