Fox Sports Southwest:
ARLINGTON Mike Napoli agreed to a one-year deal with the Rangers in February. With the season coming to a close, does he expect to be back with the team next season?
"I hope so," Napoli said Friday night. "But we'll see what happens."
Napoli finished 0-for-3 with a walk in the Rangers' 5-1 wild-card loss to the Baltimore Orioles. On a couple of occasions, the Rangers faithful greeted the catcherdesignated hitter with their signature NA-PO-LI chant as he stood at the plate.
Asked if he thought about that being the last time he hears that chant at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Napoli said he did not.
"No, it didn't go through my mind," he said. "I got to the ballpark today and expected to win. I never thought about that. It will be a long off-season. Hopefully I'll be here but we'll see what happens."
Napoli called the loss disappointing, saying, "We definitely didn't see us losing this game tonight and finishing our season today."
He later said: "We had it in front of us and we didn't take advantage."

ARLINGTON, Texas Josh Hamilton did a lot of talking in past tense following his Rangers' 5-1 season-ending loss to the Orioles.
The five time All-Star played what could have been his final game with the Rangers, and it was one he'd like to forget. It won't be easy.
Hamilton went 0 for 4 and struck out twice. He saw just eight pitches at the plate and any chance at...
So this is how it ends for Josh Hamilton and the Texas Rangers.
A rally-killing double play. An anxious strikeout. Boos. A first-pitch comebacker. More boos.
Tepid applause before he stepped in as the tying run in the eighth inning of Friday night's American League wild-card game, one last chance at the redemption that never came. Three pitches. Two swings. One more strikeout...
It is easy to point fingers at one guy and Josh Hamilton is an easy target to point fingers at. The truth is the Rangers didn’t play their best baseball as a team going down the stretch. Now the Rangers hope of post season play all comes down to one game. The Rangers started off as the best team in major league baseball for the first couple of months of the season.
The Texas Rangers...
Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, who will be a free agent, said he would love to return to the team but his decision will be led by God. The devoutly religious Hamilton has been scrutinized for his play lately. He was booed during a 0-for-4 game Friday as the Rangers were eliminated by the Baltimore Orioles 5-1 in the American Wild playoff. "You hate to have it happen...
ARLINGTON Throughout the last few weeks, the argument can be made that Josh Hamilton hasn't appeared interested in playing baseball. The five-time All-Star outfielder who hit .395 in April and drilled 12 home runs in May, cooled during the second-half of the season and plummeted during the final month.
The Rangers' 5-1 wild-card loss to the Orioles Friday night saw Hamilton...
ARLINGTON No one in the Rangers clubhouse seemed more stunned than Michael Young Friday night. But he won't blame the 5-1 wild-card loss to the Baltimore Orioles or the second place finish in the division on running out of gas.
"We've been in this situation before," Young said in front of his locker. "We knew what it took. I just think we got away from our...
Texas Rangers reliever Mike Adams didn’t make the team’s
25-man roster for their one-game playoff against the Baltimore Orioles, and his
status remains uncertain if the team is able to advance to the American League
Division Series, reports Scott Crisp of NBCDFW.com:
“My neck actually feels
pretty good,” said Adams, per the Dallas Morning News. “But the symptoms of...
After going 0-4 and being booed during Friday’s 5-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles in the AL Wild Card game at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas center fielder and impending free agent Josh Hamilton insinuated he has played his … Continue reading →
The Texas Rangers could look a bit different in the 2013 MLB season, having suffered a bit of a collapse to end the 2012 season. It culminated in the Rangers losing at home in the new wild card play-in game to the Baltimore Orioles. It may very well have been the final time we ever see Josh Hamilton wearing a Rangers uniform.Hamilton put up some solid numbers once again in 2012,...
The Baltimore Orioles are moving on after beating the Texas Rangers in the one-game wild card playoff held tonight in Arlington.
Orioles pitcher Joe Saunders gave the Orioles 5 2/3 innings before he handed the game over to the bullpen. Darren O’Day came in and pitched 2 innings giving up only one hit before he was replaced by Brian Matusz. Jim Johnson came in to close out the...
Last night, the great American feelgood story of the new millenium, Josh Hamilton, came to bat for what might be his final appearance in a Rangers costume. He fanned and walked away under a spit-shower of boos. (His shower of real booze, presumably, comes later.)Three hours earlier, the delightful Southern hospitality suburb of Red State America, Atlanta, showered debris across...
If I would have told you six months ago that the Rangers and Orioles would be in the AL's Wild Card playoff game, I bet you would have imagined that the Angels ran roughshod over the AL West, and that two out of the three top contenders in the AL East had a massive breakdown. Well...that's sort of accurate. But at any rate, here we are, with the Rangers and Orioles and their...
Baltimore’s amazing run through the 2012 season continued Friday night as they defeated the two-time defending AL Champion Texas Rangers 5-1 in the inaugural American League Wild Card game.
O’s starter Joe Saunders who was acquired from the Diamondbacks in August, tossed 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball, out pitching Japanese phenom Yu Darvish. Pirates cast off Nate McLouth, who...
It wasn’t just the umpires that made mistakes during yesterday’s first ever Wild Card play-in game.TBS mistakenly identified Cal Ripken Jr. as ‘Carl’ during its Baltimore Orioles-Texas Rangers telecast. You’d think being an MLB Hall of Famer would help learn your name.Good job, good effort, TBS.[HT: Deadspin] [Image: Stacey Long]
