Making his first start since suffering a lacerated left thumb Aug. 9, Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Chris Narveson pitched efficiently but was forced to leave early with a split fingernail. Narveson allowed five hits scattered across 5 13 scoreless innings but left in the sixth inning. FOX Sports Wisconsin's Telly Hughes reports he left with a split fingernail and not an issue with the thumb that required eight stitches. Working on his baseball glove with a pair of scissors Aug. 9 in St. Louis, Narveson got his thumb caught on the screw holding the scissors together and suffered a deep cut. He missed two starts on the disabled list.
