Eli's MLB Rumors:
The Nationals and Mike MacDougal have agreed to a minor league deal. MacDougal gives the Nationals another option in the bullpen, which owns a 5.28 ERA this season. MacDougal was an All-Star closer in 2003 with the Royals, but owns a 4.18 career ERA in 262 career games. MacDougal had a 12.46 ERA in five games with the White Sox in 2009, and will have to prove himself in Triple-A before getting the call up with the Nationals. If you are desperate for saves in your fantasy league, MacDougal could replace Julian Tavarez or Kip Wells in the closer spot if he performs well in Triple-A. Other options (unrelated to the story) include David Aardsma of the Mariners and Scott Downs of the Blue Jays.
