So long, 6′9″ starting pitcher prospect and 2011 first-rounder Alex Meyer. Mike Rizzo and the Nats just shipped him to Minnesota for above-average center fielder and leadoff man Denard Span. That means a bunch of stuff: – The new outfield is Span in center, probably with Jayson Werth in left and Bryce Harper in right. That’s good defense. – Mike Morse is the odd man out, at least in the OF. It probably means he’s moving to first, and Adam LaRoche is gone. If that’s the case, I’m so glad we won’t have to suffer Morse’s outfield defense any longer. I’ll miss LaRoche’s glove at first, though, and his lefthanded power bat in the lineup. I’ll probably miss everything about Adam LaRoche, actually. – Werth probably won’t be batting leadoff anymore, which is fine, especially if it means moving Danny Espinosa out of the two spot and down to seven. – Tyler Moore will probably be a depth guy, picking up spot starts in the outfield and at first base, as he should be. – About Span: He’
