The Dodgers announced today that they signed left-hander Chris Capuano to a two-year deal worth $10MM. There is also an $8MM option for 2014 and $1MM in incentives. Capuano slides into the back of the Dodgers' rotation and may signal the end of Hiroki Kuroda's time as a Dodger. Colletti shared his own thoughts on the subject,
“Chris is an established Major League starting pitcher who adds to our staff,” GM Ned Colletti said in a statement. “He made more than 30 starts last season was a reliable part of the Mets rotation.”
Capuano, 33, is coming off a very nice bounce back season with the New York Mets posting a 4.55 ERA with 8.1 K/9, 2.6 BB/9 and a 42.7% ground ball rate in 186 innings for the Mets. He certainly suffers with giving up the longball but I'm banking on the move to Chavez Ravine will help control this a teeny bit, tons of hope with no expectations. His win-loss record wasn't all that impressive going 11-12, but he was playing for the Mets w...

Today's roundup: Capuano signs, international interest
Chris Capuano will sign with the Dodgers for two years and $10 million, Jim Bowden reported today. Capuano was somebody that I think a lot of us were hoping would end up with the Pirates. You can see that that's a very reasonable deal and as a lefty that can strike guys out, he's something the Pirates don't really have right now. I'm not really sure what the club...

News and notes
As we move in to December, free agency is starting to heat up…
The Dodgers signed Chris Capuano (2 years, $10 million). That’s a pretty good bargain – Capuano was a target for the Pirates, and Fox Sports’ Jon Morosi confirms that they were “involved” before he signed with LA.
The Marlins signed closer Heath Bell (3 years, $27 million). YIKES....

Adam Kennedy Will Bring More Value Than Mark Ellis
It happens every year. Ned Colletti signs some guy to an above the market contract (Uribe, Ramirez, a million others) and over the course of the deal that player doesn’t earn what he’s signed for.
Then Colletti signs someone that’s overlooked to be a utility player, and the guy outperforms his contract (Carroll, Miles, etc).
So with Mark Ellis having a pretty bad injury history...
