Ike Davis could have been the only Mets player to play last night and he still would’ve beat the Pirates. The Pirates lost – SHOCKER - 6-2 and Ike drove in 5 runs off of 2 homers. The Mets were already 6-0 when the Bucs tried to mount their feeble comeback in the last two innings.
The Pirates had a runner on the third in the first. Nothing happened. The Pirates had a runner on third in the second. Nothing happened. The Pirates had two on with 1 out in the third. Nothing happened. They had chances but they just played second-half Pirates baseball. The Bucs left 9 stranded. The Mets left 2.
Kyle McPherson started his second career game and it went pretty similar to his first start. It was another 4.1 innings outing and even though he only gave up 4 hits, the Mets plated 4 runs against him. He’s got a looong way to go before he’s ready to be a serious option for any major league team…he’s looked much better out of the pen in his very big-league career.
The loss dropped the Bucs to 3 g...

Dickey Only One Win Away From Pitching’s Triple Crown!
In Saturday’s 4-3 win over the Marlins, R.A. Dickey delivered another spectacular performance for the Mets and improved his record to 19-6 while lowering his ERA to a league leading 2.66 for the season.
Dickey became the fifth pitcher in franchise history to win 19 games, throw 220 innings and strikeout 200 or more in a single season, joining the elite company of Tom Seaver,...

Finishing Strong Could Give Mets Momentum For 2013
David Wright was in full salvage mode yesterday, both from a team and individual perspective, After a blazing first half in which he carried the Mets, he’s fallen off dramatically and with his fall so has his team.
There have been numerous times during the Mets’ dreadful second half when they could have turned things around, but failed.
Now mathematically eliminated and after...

Today Baseball America released their top 20 prospects from the 2012 GCL season, which was the first league they’ve covered that had a Pirates affiliate. Over the next few weeks they’ll cover every league that featured a Pirates minor league affiliate, which will give us a chance to see where the minor leaguers stack up compared to other teams. We’ve also been running a lot...
Wright has multiple rbi game : Mets plate 6 and lose.
Great seeing the Mets finally have some life in them. Of course its meaningless but hey its a lot better then it was just a week ago. The Mets were down 4 going into the bottom of the first and scored 3 runs. Back to back home runs from Turner and Wright. This back to back was the first time all year. Wright, who has looked down right exhausted, even contributed another hit and 2 rbi’s later in

Rumor Mill: Collins Staying Put, Upton's Worth, Victorino on Mets Radar?
Some Mets Rumors and Rumblings:
The Mets front office remains committed to Terry Collins beyond this season despite the team's slide, tweets Mike Puma of the New York Post.
Puma was told emphatically that Collins is returning next year, which
has been the tone of the reports surrounding the manager's future for
most of the summer.
The Mets will be looking...
Pirates drop first game to Mets
At least the Pirates weren’t shut out, right? Tonight’s 6-2 loss put them 3 games below .500 once again. If Ike Davis didn’t exist, the Pirates would have won. But he does, and they didn’t. Kyle McPherson struggled with his command a bit in his second major league start. He threw 83 pitches, just 46 [...]
Prayers, Thoughts, Support and Love For Shannon Ford
It’s with great sadness that I report the following…
The Mets will host a fundraiser on Nov. 1 to benefit Shannon Forde, their senior director of media relations who was diagnosed earlier this month with Stage IV breast cancer.
The $100 fundraiser includes a dinner, open bar, cocktail hour and dancing at the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park, N.J., emceed by broadcaster...
Bucco Bats smack around the Mets
It would only make sense that on the same night the Braves lock up a playoff spot, leaving only one wild card spot left for the Cardinals ( games back), Dodgers, Brewers, Phillies, Diamondbacks…and Pirates to fight over. You can’t really qualify what the Pirates are doing as “fighting” but after last night’s 10-6 beating of the Mets, the Buccos are 2-1 in their last three...
Help And Hope
In case you missed it: Shannon Forde, works in the media relations department for the Mets, is battling Stage 4 breast cancer. There will be a fundraiser in New Jersey in November, and you can help by buying a ticket to the fundraising dinner, or for a meet and greet autograph session with former Mets greats. The links will provide all the information you need, including a link to...
Oh Pirates
As if it was bad that I completely missed "Speak Like a Pirate Day," The Pittsburgh Pirates are trending the wrong way towards yet another losing season. What's worse, on Aug. 6th they were 16 games over .500 and had been playing great baseball all year. Clint Hurdle was a shoo-in for Manager of the Year and Andrew McCutcheon was playing like a legit MVP candidate....
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. New York Mets – Game 155
Pirates win! Pirates win! The season is saved! Honesty, I’m still happy any time the Pirates win. It just feels good. Melissa has a nice recap. The highlight for me is the picture of Wandy Rodriguez. It’s not every day you see a Venezuelan version of Ron Perlman. That doesn’t mean I’m definitely going [...]
