Before signing with the Miami Marlins, Mark Buehrle received some interest from the New York Yankees as well. I definitely don’t have much love for pitchers – lefty or righty – that fail to break 90 with their fastballs – let alone 87. With that said, Mark Buehrle was the rare exception. I like the fact that he works quickly, pounds the strike zone and eats up innings. If the New York Yankees brought him in as a No. 3 or No. 4 starter on a one or two year deal at a reasonable cost, I would have been happy with that. Mark Buehrle didn’t have to worry about accepting a two-year deal though because the Miami Marlins (foolishly, in my opinion) handed him a four-year deal worth $58 million.
