Another year, another strong showing for New York baseball teams in All-Star Game balloting. The Mets and Yankees both have impressive numbers of players in the top five of positions on the diamond. The Yankees currently boast five players at or near the top of a positional leader board. Jason Giambi is fourth among first basemen, Robinson Cano and Jorge Posada are second among second basemen and catchers, respectively, and Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez both lead the voting at their own position and have garnered over 1.5 million votes each. Only the Yankees outfielders are lagging in voting, with Bobby Abreu being the top vote getter in pinstripes in eighth place.Mets starters have fared just as well, if not better than, those of the Yankees.
