As I [suspected yesterday], the Pirates are indeed interested in Daniel Cabrera. They aren't alone, though: the [Baltimore Sun] reports that 11 teams are interested in him. The Bucs are definitely among that group though, since both [beat] [writers] confirmed the club's interest, saying they have made contact with Cabrera's agent and "will assuredly make an offer."---The other rumor of the day: Ty Wigginton. Yes, the same guy who Dave Littlefield acquired for Kris Benson (who is a free agent, by the way), then dumped after an atrocious .258 mark with the Pirates in 2005. Since then, though, he has actually been a highly productive hitter, and one who can play many positions. It is surprising that the Astros non-tendered him and he will probably come at a price, so don't expect this deal to happen.
