I know when your 21 y/o with less then two years of professional ball experience, your nerves are going to get the best of you especially in your first major league game but Jon Niese clearly showed he's not ready. Niese only lasted three full innings and left in the fourth after allowing four runs to cross the plate without recording an out. I'll be honest, my expectations heading into the game weren't very high but after the Mets took a five to one lead I thought just maybe the kid could hold on until the pen could take over the game.Niese gave up a home run to the first batter of the game and then two subsequent walks but was able to get out of the first without any further damage. While the Brewers were held scoreless in the second and third it was more thanks to their free swinging then it was Niese's pitches.
