Jon Niese has been scratched from his start Saturday with what the Mets are calling left shoulder tendinitis.
Niese has been feeling discomfort for his past few starts and was very sore after his most recent start, Terry Collins told reporters.
He will miss at least one start and is expected to throw a bullpen session next Tuesday.
The Mets have no current plan to place Niese on the disabled list and Collin McHugh will start in his place against the Miami Marlins this weekend.
I’m no doctor, but if he was feeling sore after his last few starts, why were they still letting him pitch?
Niese has already suffered with a neck issue earlier this month and had lower back pain in April. At the time, Niese blamed his poor mechanics for it.
“You try to compensate and (then) create a bad habit.”
It’s always something…
