The Outside Corner:
Los Angeles Dodgers
St. Louis Cardinals
The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the St Louis Cardinals 3-0 in Game 3 of the NLCS, cutting the Cardinals' series lead to 2-1.
Hyun-Jin Ryu got the start for the Dodgers and had himself a great night, allowing three hits over seven shutout innings, walking one and striking out four. The Cardinals didn't have an extra base hit all evening, and they had just one legitimate scoring opportunity all evening. In the top of the fifth inning, David Freese and Matt Adams led off the inning with singles. Daniel Descalso came in to pinch run for an injured Freese, and Jon Jay promptly flew out to Carl Crawford in left for the first out of the inning. But Descalso had wandered too far from second, and Crawford fired the ball in to Mark Ellis to double him up. St Louis wouldn't put another runner in scoring position over the rest of the game. All things considered, Jay had a rough game, adding a couple of defensive misplays to his fly out double play.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers did ...

Hyun-Jin Ryu and the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen shutout the St Louis Cardinals 3- 0 in game 3 of the 2013 NLCS. He became the first Dodger to pitch seven shutout innings in a postseason game since Jerry Reuss in 1981, yielding just three hits.
The Dodgers still trail the Cardinals, 2 games to 1 in the best-of-seven series.

Forgive Hyun-Jin Ryu foR not understanding those who said the Los Angeles Dodgerswere DOA, after all he doesn’t speak English. But he does speak baseball. The Dodgers entered Game 3 at Dodger Stadium in a 2-0 hole; however, after a masterful seven-inning performance by the South Korean lefty, the Boys in Blue and their fans find themselves with a renewed hope.
Truth is the Dodgers could not be certain what to expect when Hyun-Jin Ryu took the mound to start Game 3. Not after his disastrous previous outing in the playoffs and then there was the concern he was hiding an injury.
They just knew they needed a strong start from Ryu to keep the Dodgers from looking at an 0-3 hole in the National League Championship Series.
Ryu not only gave...
LOS ANGELES -- For Game 3, it will be the Dodgers' turn to count on their rookies.
After the Cardinals rode their rookie pitchers to a 1-0 victory on Saturday, they will send out veteran ace Adam Wainwright against a depleted Dodgers lineup. The Dodgers, meanwhile, will counter with rookie left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu, a 26-year-old sinkerballer who put up slightly better regular...
Yesterday's pick ended up being correct but for none of the reasons I listed. I thought both Clay Buchholz and Max Scherzer would be good with Buchholz being a little better. Buchholz was bad and gave up five runs. Scherzer was amazing. Unfortunately for the Tigers, Scherzer could not go the distance (or was not allowed to) and the Red Sox teed off on the Tigers bullpen to...
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Hyun-Jin Ryu outpitched Adam Wainwright with seven innings of three-hit ball, Adrian Gonzalez's RBI double ended a 1-for-17 drought for the Dodgers with runners in scoring position, and Los Angeles got back into the NL championship series with a 3-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night. Hyun Jin Ryu threw a gem to lead the Dodgers to a 3-0 win over the Cardinals in Game 3 of the 2013 NLCS.
Hanley Ramirez returned but was still obviously hurting:
He had two hits, but let’s be honest, they were basically pop-ups.
A-Gon broke the Dodgers out of their slump.
Yasiel Puig got jobbed in his first PA:
But he made up for it later.
Then Carl Crawford did his best...
Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainright pitched well against the Dodgers in Game Three (7 innings, 6 hits, 2 runs, 5 Ks), but in a series that has been as close as this one has been 'good' is not good enough. Hyun-Jin Ryu went 7 innings for the Dodgers, but was much stingier allowing just three hits and no runs.
Tack on an RBI double by Adrian Gonzalez, triple by Yasiel Puig...
