Found May 07, 2013 on Nationals Enquirer:
Not surprisingly, MLB did not fine or suspend Byrce Harper after his ejection at the hands of fightin' John Hirschbeck on Sunday in Pittsburgh. And, not surprisingly, Harper said all the right things when he heard about the decision: "It's great. I'm glad I don't have to pay the $1,000. That's another $1,000 in my pocket, so that's good. That's Major League Baseball's decision, and I respect that, definitely. And if I was to get fined, I would have respected that, too." (Bryce Harper, via Nats Insider, 5/7/2013) You can see MLB.com video of the MASN feed here; but the video evidence which seems to back up claims that Harper didn't do much of anything ("slamming" his helmet seems a stretch) and that Hirschbeck was looking to throw him out regardless via the Pirates feed has since been destroyed. Again, here's Hirschbeck on being shown up and "being nice": "I didn’t like that he put...

  • This guy is talented but he is a disrespectful punk. Hirschbeck was more than fair by not tossing him after 2 infractions. It was only after he tossed his helmet like the sissy asss little crybaby he is that he got tossed. I mean come on, your a major league player and you toss equipment in a hissy fit. Grow up bryce, your a moron.
  • sounds like you're the f'n sissy tough guy!!! Every player in the majors has tossed equipment in the same fashion BH did, sounds like you're a disgruntled jealous POS who should worry about yourself instead of a superstar ballplayer. Did you read the article? Did you see the play? Have you heard any other professional think he should have been ran? NONE dip$hit!!!
  • He should have been run Period, assshole. He's a punk and umps have been giving him too much slack. Not questioning his talent, he's just a crybaby, and so are you.

Was Bryce Harper’s Ejection Justified?

We all know that Bryce Harper can be a hot head at times. Do we need to bring up the fact that he slammed a bat into a wall and hit himself in the face? But he is young and plays with his heart on his sleeve, and this is why we love him. I am never really the one to take the side of a player when he gets ejected, but when I look at the video again, I have to say Harper did nothing...

Bryce Harper ejected by John Hirschbeck, who was looking to toss him (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. Bryce Harper had a very quick afternoon during the Washington Nationals’ 6-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Harper had only one at-bat, as he was thrown out by umpire John Hirschbeck in the top of the first inning for arguing over a check swing. The call looked questionable and the ejection even more so. Harper reportedly dropped...

Bryce Harper gets ejected for slamming helmet in the dugout (VIDEO)

(Justin K. Aller/Getty Images) Third base umpire John Hirschbeck wasn’t having any of Bryce Harper’s debate Sunday after Harper though he held up on a check swing Sunday.  On a pitch that appeared to be strike three anyway, Harper and Hirschbeck had a disagreement on whether Harper checked his swing in time. Like any good umpire should, Hirschbeck was going to let Harper get...

Bryce Harper Shouldn’t Have Been Ejected, But Young Star Needs to Learn That Others Will Use Passion Against Him

Everyone has sat in a classroom next to a guy who looks like a troublemaker and another who looks like a wonderful, stand-up young man. Both were shooting pencils into the ceiling or putting saran wrap over the toilet seats, but only one gets instantly called out when it’s time to charge into the classroom and pick out the miscreant. It’s the one who looks the part. Such is the...

Harper Vs. Hirschbeck: Breaking Down The Ejection

I know I'm a bit late to the game here, but I was unable to write until today, so I figured it was better late than never to talk about Bryce Harper's ejection by third base umpire John Hirschbeck from Sunday afternoon's game in Pittsburgh. The more I watch the video, the more amazed I am at the ejection and the set of circumstances that unfolded following the game. First...

Tigers-Nationals postponed by rain

On a day when rain postponed the start of a much-anticipated series against the Detroit Tigers, the Washington Nationals got some good news. Manager Davey Johnson said left fielder Bryce Harper would not be suspended or fined by Major League Baseball for being ejected in Sunday's 6-2 win at Pittsburgh. Harper was ejected by third base umpire John Hirschbeck for disputing a checked...

Despite Harper’s Dominance, Nationals Offense Is Flagging

Plenty has gone wrong for the Nationals in the early going. Dan Haren is basically broken, Gio Gonzalez might be and Stephen Strasburg — while pitching well — has not kept up the star pace expected of him in the early going. The offense might be just as concerning, however. Despite Bryce Harper’s continuous blossoming, a combination of injuries and underperformance has conspired...

Bryce Harper added an Anibal Sanchez Pelt to his Big Game Wall Tonight

Anibal Sanchez is a bad dude. This is the same man who struck out 16 Atlanta Braves a few Fridays ago. But when there is big game to be hunted, Bryce Harper picks up his elephant gun and goes to work. Harper hit a majestic blast to right-center off Sanchez and drove in another on a sacrifice fly in the Nationals 3-1 victory over the Tigers. The home run was Harper’s 10th of the season.

Nationals 3, Tigers 1

Bryce Harper hit a solo homer and drove in another run with a sacrifice fly, Jordan Zimmermann won his NL-leading sixth game and the Washington Nationals beat the Detroit Tigers 3-1 Wednesday night. Denard Span added a triple and a single for Washington, which has won five of six. Zimmermann (6-1), whose scoreless streak was snapped at 20 innings in the third, allowing a run on...
