When John Danks signed his five-year and $65 million deal with the White Sox, I argued that it actually made him more attractive to the Yankees as they wouldn’t have to risk giving up prospects for him only to see him walk as a free agent a year later.

However, Danks landed himself a full no-trade clause in the first year of his contract which would prevent the Yankees from even attempting to deal for him now, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com. After the first year, he has a limited no-trade clause where he can veto a deal to six teams. So even after a year, they could only entertain the idea of trading for him if Danks himself wants to be a Yankee.

So for now there is simply no way that the Yankees can land Danks.
