New York Yankees
After splitting the first two games of this four-game set, the Yankees and Twins each sent out a question mark to pitch. For the Yankees, it was Hiroki Kuroda, coming off a complete game shutout but also with that shaky debut in Tampa Bay on his record. Jason Marquis of the Twins, a Yankees fan growing up and a 13-year veteran, was making his first career start at Yankee Stadium, as well as his return from last year’s fractured right fibula. With the two teams having each posted one offensive outburst in the series, they had their work cut out for them.
As it turns out, Kuroda is more the pitcher he was in his debut than the one who shut down LA. The idea that he would just slot in as the No. 2 guy in this rotation was nonsense, and now his record shows two clunkers in three attempts. He gave up all six runs in just 4.1 innings, and taxed a bullpen which had finally gotten some rest courtesy of CC Sabathia the previous night. I don’t think he’s as bad as he was last night, but I als...

As I was throwing out papers today, I came across the reasons the Yankees were doomed to lose the first game of their series against the Twins.
The notes were a mess; as I had written them late on Sunday night but my reasoning actually turned out to be pretty accurate so I thought why not pass it along. So, here it is just a day and a dollar...
The Minnesota Twins headed to the Big Apple at the beginning of the week as winners of just two games through their first three series this year. Minnesota was coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of arguably the best team in this early season, the Texas Rangers.
It was early, but the Twins were searching for answers.
While manager Ron Gardenhire's club lost Thursday...
New York Yankees center fielder Curtis Granderson homered in his first three at-bats in Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins.
Granderson clubbed a solo homer in the first inning, a two-run shot in the second and another solo blast in the fourth to give New York a 7-4 lead.
He singled in the sixth inning in his bid for his fourth consecutive home run.
It was the first...
NY Yankees pitcher Hiroki Kuroda. He of the 5.00 ERA and $10 million dollar contract...just signed a one year lease to rent a Midtown penthouse on West 52nd Street for $19,750 a month.

New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez moved into fifth-place on the all time home runs list on Friday with a Deep blast during the Yankees-Red Sox game at Fenway Park.
Rodriguez passed former teammate and mentor Ken Griffey Jr. with a solo home run in the fifth inning off Red Sox pitcher Clay Bucholz. This is his second home run of the season and number 631 for his career...
Have a day Curtis Granderson!
The Yankees outfielder turned in the first truly spectacular individual fantasy day of the 2012 season by going 5-5 with three home runs on Thursday night. He drove in four runs.
Curtis Granderson had one hell of a day yesterday, but should you start him on Friday? Jerod has the answer. (Photo by Keith Allison via Wikimedia Commons)

If you did not know--I was out all day yesterday and did not know either--the Yankees and Red Sox will be wearing 1912 throwback uniforms on Friday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park.
The Red Sox have worn these throwbacks before (below), but this will be a first for the Yankees. It'll be odd seeing the Yanks in something other than the usual road greys...
I can totally see that Terez...
Sometimes clones can cross genders — Here’s Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira and his female doppelganger Rachel Maddow from MSNBC — This was a fan submission and I think it’s a pretty darn good one. Keep em coming. -TO

When the Twins signed 30-year-old right-hander Jared Burton to a minor league contract this winter, it was little more than a blip on the offseason radar. He managed to rack up 1.3 WAR in 161 relief innings for a Reds from 2007-2009 after being taken from the Athletics in the Rule 5 Draft, but hyperthyroidism and shoulder surgery limited him to just eight big league innings in 2010...
NEW YORK (AP) Minnesota Twins center fielder Denard Span and manager Ron Gardenhire were ejected in the third inning of Tuesday night's game against the New York Yankees.
With a runner on first and one out, Span took a called strike from CC Sabathia on a pitch that appeared to be inside. Span stepped behind the batter's box and appeared to exchange words with plate umpire...
