Go ahead and say that you won’t be paying attention to the Yankees and the White Sox game tonight, show how much of a rebel you are. Major League Baseball is about to have one of their highest rated games of the year tonight, thanks in part to what is reportedly scheduled to happen later today with Alex Rodriguez. Just in case you have been living under a rock, A-Rod, along with other ball players, including Nelson Cruz and Jhonny Peralta, will be suspended by MLB for a violating the league’s substance abuse policy in wake of the Biogenesis scandal. A-Rod is reportedly facing a 214-game suspension, which would cover the rest of this season and all of next year. However, A-Rod and his representatives will immediately file an appeal and which will allow him to play tonight and probably into mid-September. Don’t be fooled, MLB wouldn’t have it any other way. Just a week ago, there was this foolish talk about Bud Selig evoking the “best interests of baseball” clause that is in the collective bargaining agreement, in order to ban A-Rod for life. The biggest reason it was being considered is because A-Rod would be unable to appeal [...]

Suzyn Waldman Claims to See ‘Lot of People Standing and Cheering’ for Alex Rodriguez’s First At-Bat (Audio)

It is certainly no secret that Yankees radio broadcaster Suzyn Waldman sees things through a Yankees-colored light to the point that she probably wears pinstriped pajamas. But she found a new way to prove that sometimes, at least, she just doesn’t see all of reality. Waldman and longtime radio partner John Sterling were on hand Monday night in Chicago where Yankees third baseman...

A-Rod set to return unless 'struck by lightning'

Alex Rodriguez is ready to play and ready to put up a fight. He certainly doesn't see the next games possibly being his last with the threat of a lifetime ban or a lengthy suspension from major league baseball over his head. The much-maligned 14-time All-Star who has 647 career home runs hit a two-run homer for the Class AA Trenton Thunder over five innings of play in a 6-2...

The Complicity of Bud Selig

Photo source However you feel about the Alex Rodriguez debacle, you have to agree that it makes for excellent baseball television. Personally, I’m quite enjoying the circus – schadenfreude has always been one of my strong suits. When A*Rod takes the field in Chicago, he’ll doubtless face a loud chorus of boos and jeers. After talking to a few Yankees fans, I don’t think...

Suspensions From Jordany Valdespin To Alex Rodriguez Bring Different Reactions

One by one the names were read, but only one brought an immediate response from me: Jordany Valdespin of the New York Mets. The reaction was two-fold. First laughter, because aren’t these supposed to be “performance enhancing drugs?’’ The second was this probably explains a lot about his behavior, which seemingly has been a permanent case of “Roid Rage.’’ VALDESPIN...
