The Phillies are still hunting for pitching, but rather than turning to Kyle Lohse (who still wants many millions and many years), they're shifting their attention to lefty Odalis Perez. Some of the Phils people flew down to the Dominican Republic to have Odalis pitch for them, and he was quoted as to saying- "It went good, I'm going to hear back from them Saturday or Sunday.". He made $7.75 million last season pitching for the Royals, going 8-11 with a 5.57 era. I see this as nothing more than an insurance policy should Adam Eaton not be able to hold down the 5th spot in the rotation, and if they could sing Odalis for about $2 million it may not be a bad idea. Like Chad Durbin, Odalis could serve as a swingman, taking turns in the rotation when the inevitable injury occurs.
