Alex Rodriguez said after a rehab start with the Trenton Thunder last night that he's 100% and that hopes to play five more years, beginning Monday against the White Sox. "My body's beginning to react the right way," he said. "I'm prepared to play five more years, especially the way my body is reacting. I feel like I can play, play for a long time, and be productive."
That is, of course, unless he gets 'hit by lightning' between now and then.
A-Rod added a not so cryptic "I will say this: There's more than one party that benefits from me never stepping on the field, and it's not Yankee fans."
So, it's not only Buck Showalter who thinks the Yanks would benefit from a long, Biogenesis aided ban for the soon to be (?) NY Yankees third baseman. Asked if he was referring to the aforementioned Bronx Bombers...Arod replied, "I think that's the pink elephant in the room."
Commence shaking your collective heads now.
