Oliver Perez responded to Dan Warthen's challenge that he's out of shape and behind in his throwing regime. Perez admitted that he's behind where he should be at this time in spring training but also stated that he has time to get it together. Perez seemed to placed a lot of blame for his condition on the Mexican team during the WBC, basically confirming that all he did was throw two starts in 19 days. However, Ollie disputed the comments about his shape even asking if anyone wanted to come for a run. It will be interesting to see how Ollie responds to the challenge Warthen has thrown down. The Mets should have known better then to allow Ollie to go off on his own during spring training, but I blame Ollie himself most of all; he's a big boy and after getting a big contract needs to act more responsibly.
