I found the timing to be unusual, but the Mets eventually did what they should have done Sunday morning when Ollie showed up with an ice pack on his knee, and placed him on the disabled list.The idea of the Mets fixing Perez as the second left handed reliever in the pen made very little sense. His pitching opportunities would have been inconsistent and more then likely would come in pressure situations. There's been some speculation that the Mets wanted Ollie to volunteer for assignment, which they felt would endear him to the fan base, but after speaking with Scott Boras, they didn't get the sense that he was going to be receptive to that idea.
