Earlier today, Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune posted an item on the Rangers, Cubs and Mets discussing a potential deal that would net the Rangers Milton Bradley.
It's a rumor both Rogers and I heard last night. The Rangers officials I spoke to said "not happening" in response to my question. The Cubs officials Rogers spoke to said that, yeah, there has been a discussion and "there is a trade to be made there."
Yes, there is for the Cubs and the Mets. The Cubs want to be rid of Milton Bradley in the strongest possible terms. The Mets would like to bid adieu to Luis Castillo. The Rangers, hey, they wouldn't mind moving Kevin Millwood if it opened up some payroll for them to make a more serious play on the free agent market, but it's also a risky venture to get rid of the only guy on the staff with a 200-inning season in the majors.
