On Bonds, Branding, & Democracy

Gilbert Arenas isn't the only one who thinks the Ecko publicity stunt with the Bonds 756 ball is hateful and dangerous. But he does put it eloquently. Is an internet vote really how we should decide the legacies of human beings? Why do so many people have no problem with making Barry Bonds the whipping boy for so many others who have actually tested positive, or who have condoned and enabled what he's been accused and suspected of?
