I got a variety of responses, both on Facebook and elsewhere, to my article defending Nick Swisher's complaints about Yankee fans booing him. Click here to read what people said in the comments section of Subway Squawkers. Thanks to everyone for weighing in on the subject. Anyhow, the whole thing got me thinking some more about when and where Yankee fans boo.Since we started writing this blog way back in 2006, I have been consistent in being against Yankee boobirds. I swear, I think some fans just want to show up at the game so they can vent their frustrations in life against A-Rod/Swisher/Granderson/whoever their target du jour is. However, maybe it's because my co-Squawker is a Mets fan, but I do attempt these days to keep real ...

'Sensitive' Swisher says Yankees fans blaming him for Jeter's injury

Nick Swisher is a lot of different things to a lot of different people — overrated agitator to opponents or pie-throwing cheerleader to his teammates. But one thing the gregarious New York Yankees slugger never thought he would be is an outcast with his beloved Bleacher Creatures out in right field. Now it looks like the crowd favorite is hearing things from the fans he's...

Why Nick Swisher is right about the Yankee fans who boo their own

I wondered today if anybody was going to be the Eric Winston of the Yankees and call out those Yankee fans who have been booing their own players. Turns out that it was one-time fan favorite Nick Swisher, who is extremely unhappy that fans not only booed him, but blamed him for Derek Jeter getting hurt. MLB.com has the story. Some will say that Swisher made a real gaffe here in telling...

Yankees bench A-Rod and Swisher for Game 3

With the New York Yankees offense continuing to sputter, manager Joe Girardi will attempt to jump start his flatlining team by bringing in the bench.  Does he really have a choice? Either Girardi is channeling Bobby V, or he has gone stark raving mad

Tonight's lineup - perhaps the last lineup of the modern, dominant era of the Yankees - has been submitted.  It's incredible. In 24 hours, Nick Swisher has gone from a benched afterthought to batting second in the order.A-Rod, whose last at bat the other night was his best in the series, is still on the bench.  He may never see another at bat as a Yankee. His replacement...

Last night’s postponement due to rain in Detroit makes ALCS Game 4 a day later. And thanks to Mother Nature, it also means the New York Yankees cannot pitch their ace CC Sabathia if needed in ALCS Game 7, which reaching is a pipe dream anyway. But the weather does give the Yankees time to reconsider not starting Alex Rodriguez, which was the original plan. Now, as the Yankees wait...
