In Lawrenceville, Georgia, the Gwinnett Braves (ATL) turned the lights out on the Pawtucket Red Sox early in tonight’s game, jumping out to a 5-1 lead after three innings en route to an 11-2 victory over the PawSox. Lefty Fabio Castro (0-2, 9.45) was the losing pitcher after surrendering five runs on seven hits and a pair of walks in 3.1 IP. Righty Ramon Ramirez followed Castro in the game and gave up four more runs on five hits and three walks in just 2 IP. RHP Robert Manuel allowed his first two runs of the year (in 15.2 IP). Chad Paronto mopped up with a scoreless eighth inning for the Sox. Gwinnett righty Tim Gustafson (2-1) allowed 2 runs on six hits in 5 IP to pick up the win. He walked three and failed to strike out a batter in his outing. Three relievers combined to pitch four innings of two-hit, scoreless relief for the Braves. 3B Wes Timmons led Gwinnett’s 13-hit attack with four hits and two rbi.
