At McCoy Stadium, southpaw Kris Johnson allowed just two unearned runs over seven innings to lead the Pawtucket Red Sox to a 5-4 win over the Norfolk Tides (BAL). K-J didn’t figure in the decision, but he lowered his ERA to 3.83 for the year. Reliever Dustin Richardson (2-0) pitched the eighth inning and allowed two runs, yet earned the victory when the offense rallied for two runs in the bottom of the frame. RHP Fernando Cabrera picked up the save, his seventh. The Sox jumped ahead in the first inning when Tides starter Armando Gabino issued a walk to leadoff hitter Tug Hulett and later surrendered a two-run home run to LF Daniel Nava (#7). The Tides tied the game with unearned runs in the fourth and fifth innings… both tallies were abetted by errors that were committed by 3B Jorge Jimenez. Pawtucket scored an unearned run of its own in the bottom of the fifth (on a sacrifice fly by SS Angel Sanchez) to re-establish a one-run advantage, but Norfolk jumped back in fro...
