At McCoy Stadium, the Pawtucket Red Sox were blanked by the Norfolk Tides (BAL), 3-0, in lefty Felix Doubront’s much-anticipated home debut. The PawSox managed just four hits against Tides starter Troy Patton and former big leaguer Dennis Sarfate.
In Doubront’s first appearance at McCoy, the 22-year old Venezuelan allowed one earned run over five innings. He gave up eight hits, issued two walks and recorded six strikeouts. He danced in-and-out of trouble throughout his outing but proved to be pretty resilient, inducing three double plays to help limit the damage. He surrendered a run on four consecutive singles to start the second inning, but escaped further damage thanks to a double play and strikeout.
Relievers Chad Paronto (2 IP) and Fernando Cabrera (1 IP) each surrendered a run in their outings.
The lone bright spot offensively for the PawSox was RF Bubba Bell who went 2-for-2 in the ballgame. C Dusty Brown and DH Aaron Bates chipped in the other base hits.
