After four solid starts in a row Justin Verlander struck a bit of fear into the hearts of Detroit Tigers fans last night when the Baltimore Orioles roughed him up. During the month of May, JV saw his ERA jump from 1.93 to 3.66 over the span of just two starts.
He seemed to right the ship until last night, when the hard-hitting O’s hung 7 hits (2 homers) and 5 earned runs on him...

The Tigers drafted Ben Verlander, Justin’s younger brother, in the 14th round of Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft earlier this month. After Ben signed his first professional baseball contract, JV rewarded him with a Range Rover.

The Baltimore Orioles completed a 13-3 drubbing of the Detroit Tigers yesterday to take 2 out of 3 from the current AL-Central leaders. They did it basically the same way they’ve done it all year: with a homerun heavy offense and clutch pitching out of the bullpen...

I feel like I’ve written this sentence a lot in recent pieces, but the Baltimore Orioles were once again carried to a series win on the back of their staggering lineup and rock-solid bullpen.
The birds took three out of four from the AL-East leading Boston Red Sox, chopping their lead down to 1.5 games...
DETROIT This is not a story about how the sky is falling on Detroit Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander. He lost for the first time in his career Tuesday night to the Baltimore Orioles, but is still 8-5 with a 3.72 ERA.
So, while the world is not coming to an end for Verlander, there is no doubt that his world is changing.
Verlander, quite simply, is not dominating hitters this...
A tweet that was sent out and subsequently deleted by the S.I. cover girl seems to take a shot at her rumored ex-boyfriend.
The O’s beat Justin Verlander and the Tigers yesterday, continuing strong play of late to give them the AL’s third-best record. Manny Machado chipped in with his league-leading 32nd double and “two sparkling plays at third base.”
Neither of those are new for Machado, who’s on pace to break baseball’s season record for doubles and who draws natural comparisons to Baltimore...
Max Scherzer racked up 10 strikeouts on the way to earning his major league leading 10th win of the season, as the Detroit Tigers took the first game of their three-game series with the visiting Orioles, 5-1 on Monday night. With the win, Detroit managed to extend their lead in the American League Central to five games over the second-place Kansas City

Justin Verlander faltered and the Detroit Tigers’ offense failed on numerous occasions to up its ace, as the Baltimore Orioles grabbed a 5-2 win at Comerica Park.
Here are the grades for Tuesday night’s game:
1. Austin Jackson: B-plus. Jackson finished a respectable 1-for-3, but he did his very best to rally the troops in the closing innings. A-Jax walked in the fifth...

For the second time this year, The Red Sox are facing another divisional opponent. This time, they have to face the reigning pennant winners.
The Detroit Tigers are back where they have been ever since they acquired Miguel Cabrera and promoted Justin Verlander to the major leagues. They might be in one of Baseball’s weakest division...
The Detroit Tigers (39-31, 1st place, 3.5 games ahead of Cleveland, losing streak at 2) continue their home stand with a 4-game set against the Clay Buchholz-less Boston Red Sox (44-30, 1st place AL East). The forecast says Detroit weather all good for the first couple games, fair chance of rain over the weekend that could affect play.
