The Baltimore Orioles and Adam Jones are on the verge of agreeing to a contract extension according to sources close to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports. Jones is hitting .311/.357/.601 with 14 HR's, 29 RBI's and a 161 OPS+ in 183 AB's for the Orioles this season. He ranks third in the Majors in WAR behind Josh Hamilton and David Wright with 2.8. His UZR for this season is 4.6, second best in the Majors for a center fielder. He ranks four in wOBA (.408) and ISO (.290) among the center fielders in the Majors and third in SLG with (.601). With this numbers, we could all agree that Jones could manage a deal that breaks the $100 million barrier, but I don't know if the Orioles would commit so much money to one player. The highest paid Oriole is Nick Markakis with a $12.35 million salary for 2012 (He signed a six-year deal for $66.1 million back in 2009) and behind him is Brian Roberts with a $10 million salary (he signed a four-year, $40 million deal back in 2010). So we would have to wait and see what the Orioles offer to him. The 26-year old center fielder is making $6.15 million this season and has one more year of arbitration eligibility.
