The Toronto Blue Jays are surging in the American League East and seem to be on a roll that has surprised all of baseball. Winners of the off-season wheeling and dealing, they were assumed to be all but done in the playoff race, despite the season not even being half over. Now, the Blue Jays are back in the thick of things and are over .500 with a 37-36 record. The two teams have battled so far this weekend, and it seems that there were quite a few plays and key events in the game that could have gone in favor the Orioles, but did not. As of this afternoon, they have won ten in a row and defeated the Baltimore Orioles – again – just a few hours ago, 4-2. The Orioles have lost two in a row; however, both games were close and could have gone to either team. They were behind in both games, but managed to come back due to clutch hitting and also the home run. They got decent starting pitching from Jason Hammel (on Friday) and Miguel Gonzalez threw another strong game after returning from paternity leave. The losses suck for the Orioles; however, they are still in very good shape. They have managed to stay near the top of the division all season and are a championship level team. Also, the Darren O’Day-Jose Bautista mini-controversy – I’m calling whatever on it. Both men are just doing their job and should celebrate when they help out their team as long as it is not over the top. Finally, the Buck Showalter ejection yesterday was something to behold. He looked like Earl Weaver out there with the red face and theatrics. Showalter played that ejection for all that it was worth…
