According to a report on Baltimore based WNST.net the Baltimore Orioles and free agent/formerly retired outfielder Manny Ramirez may be serious about reaching a deal. Baltimore is looking for some right handed power to add to it’s lineup. Ramirez is looking for another chance after he was suspended for PED use after just 17 at bats with the Rays in 2011. Ramirez makes little sense for a Baltimore team that should be looking to the future in hopes of establishing some sort of talent base to build around. The signing of Ramirez would likely mean less at bats for players like Nolan Reimold and Chris Davis. Reimold and Davis may not be the Orioles’ saviors but the team should at least attempt to see what it has in the two young players. Davis and Reimold could be long term solutions whereas Ramirez would represent just another stop gap in a long line of Oriole stop gaps.
