The Padres have officially announced the signing of First Baseman/ Right Fielder Brad Hawpe. The deal is worth $2 million in 2011 with a $6 million dollar option against a $1 million dollar bye out for 2012, meaning Hawpe will earn $3 million guaranteed from the Padres. The deal also lands the Padres their replacement for the departed Adrian Gonzalez who was traded to Boston for prospects earlier this off-season.
