Fightin' Marlins:
The San Diego Padres completely trounced the Marlins Wednesday night 14-3 and were able to chase starter Ricky Nolasco away in the second inning.
Nolasco allowed nine earned runs on nine hits. Nolasco struck out three in the inning and 1/3 of work.
The game got so bad that outfielder Bryan Petersen threw an inning of scoreless work to close out the game.
Outfielder Ryan Ludwick and possible trade bait for the Padres went 4-for-4 with four RBIs. Jesus Guzman also contributed four RBI.
Hanley Ramirez cranked his 10th home run off of Aaron Harang in the sixth. It was one of nine Marlin hits the whole night while San Diego got 20.
The series ends Thursday at noon on the East Coast. Javier Vazquez takes on Dustin Mosely.
